Arizona Man Arrested for Impersonating Uber Driver and Stealing Cryptocurrency

Arrest and Investigation
The authorities caught the fake Uber driver, Nuruhussein Hussein, through a collaborative investigation involving the Scottsdale Police Department and the United States Secret Service Phoenix Field Office. Their joint effort uncovered a cryptocurrency fraud scheme that had been operating from March through December 2024.
The investigation focused on incidents occurring outside a hotel in Scottsdale, Arizona, where Hussein allegedly targeted unsuspecting passengers.
At least two victims reported incidents in March and October 2024, which likely prompted the initial investigation.
Authorities identified a pattern in Hussein’s alleged modus operandi, where he would pose as an Uber driver and pick up passengers waiting for their rides.
